A different drum | The goal

Got goals?

Setting goals—whether professional or personal—makes you focus on the “big picture.” For a goal to be achievable, however, it must be narrowed and restated as a clear desired outcome. By doing this, a goal is translated into an objective—a precise, tangible and, most importantly, measurable action. For example: learning to play a musical instrument is a goal, learning to play “Stairway to Heaven” on the guitar is an objective. Goals are like maps—they represent a large area. They motivate by creating the possibility of place. But it’s up to you to decide exactly where you’re going.

Our goal is to have lots of comments. Let us know what you think.
